TAIHAPE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

..- L NEW PAST ’S INDUCTION , The long period during which the Taihape charge has been without a; minister ended happily on Thursdayg 19th June, by the induction of the Rev. J. C. Loan, who recently accpt« ed a call -therefrom. Visiting mini-v Stors were, the Rev. J. r-\lcCaw (modern.tor), Rev. Frazer Barton, Westmere; Rev. L_ Hunt. Marten, and Rev. E. G. Evans, Hunterville, and clerk to the Wanganfii Presbytery. An earnest" and stirring opening address to tlfie" congregation was given by the Rev. Frazer Barton, on the “Power of’ Prayer.” The Induction Service was most. impressive, the church, despite stormy, rainy Weather had its seating capacity heavily taxed by the atten‘dance of a large, earnest and happy ‘congregation, When asked to signifytheir assent. to the induction of Mr. Loan the large congregation rose up [as one person. _The Rev. McCaw gave particulars of the negotiations ‘that led up to the Rev_ Mr. Loan ’s’ lacecptance of the call, plied the usual ‘questions and declared Mr, Loan duly inducted to the charge of Taihapc. and the Rev. E. G. Evans most L‘ |pressively addressed him, after the I ceremony. V

In the evening the Taihape congregation gave the Rev. Mr Loan and Mrs. Loan a hearty welcome, at a social, at which most helpful addresses’ were given by the Revs. Hunt, Bar‘ ton, Evans and MeCaw. The choir ' rendered glees and other concerted’ music, and Mrs. Mortland and Miss Galloway sang soles that merited all the applause they reecived. A telegram to the gathering from the Rev. Frank Maedonald, who had supplied the Taihape pulpit for two years, was read, in which he tendered his heartiest congratulations, to both pastor and people. Mr. A. R_ Munro, the Taihape Session Clerk, gave an in—teresting and humorous ‘address, the most interesting featurebeing the presentation of a cheque from‘ the Taihapecharge to the Rev_ J’. McCaW, forthe earnest and manifold services he had unstintingly rendered during a most trying period.
