TEACHERS’ APPEALS.
The latest scandal in connection with the vetoing or the decision of an Appeal Board concerns the Education Department, which has turned down. an appeal decided by the Government: Grading Appeal Board in which 4% Auckland teachers are concerned. Oxzf Saturday last an application was made’ to Mr_ Justice ‘Stringer for a mandamus ‘to compel the amending of the‘ grading list in accordance with the decision of the Board. It transpired Curing the hearing, that it was noti customary to amend the gazetted grading list as the result of any appeals, the records being kept on cards’ in the Wellington head office and at" the differnt Education Board offices( ‘As these records are not open to any one outside the Inspectors and the Departmental officers, it will be understood how vicious such a system is" ——-just what one could expect from the Education Department. Judgment was reserved.
