The bakers prelfcrred to leave their claims to the ! Industrial Court. ' The meeting was asked to discuss a motion that 2+ hours’ notice should be given of intention to strike, owing to the Master Bakers’ Associations’ contemplated return to night work. i The master bakers oifcred them a r midnight or a midday start. The motion was turned down. It lwas thought that the stringent action [ was not necessary, and it was decided l to submit claims to the Court on Monlday morning ill connection with the new award. The present. award expired on J'un'e 2. The Union is absolutely opposed to a return to night work, but the further consideration of this question was postponed until the decision of the Court is known. Bakers, Ltd., submitted the following‘ ofi‘er:——Conditional on the men starting work at 9 a.m. from Tuesday to Satimlay, inclusive, 3 am. on i-Vfondays. and 3 a.m. on the days succeeding all holidays, an increase of 15s-a week all round, a 44-hour Week; two weeks’ annual holidays on full pay. all ho]-2-! days to be closely observed, and any ‘ World to be done after 12 noon on Saturday to the starting time on Monday morning, to be paid for at the rate of £1 per hour. ; The meeting having previously de-i cided to put. the claims into the Court, i the proplosition could‘ not "he entergll tained, but it will be placed before the , Court for consideration. ’
