ARTIFICIAL POLITICAL CONDITIONS.,
MR ASQUITH ON COALITION
Received May 29, 10.10 a.m. ■ LONDON, Alay 17.*
Air Asquith, in a speech at Newcastle, emphasised the inestimable advantage of a compact, determined opposition in Parliament. It was the essence of parliamentary life. The artificial conditions of the December election resulted in a top-heavy, unworkmanlike machine. Coalition was often necessary in war, but was wholly unsuited to the constructive tasks of peace. We must have a speedy return to healthy, political conditions.

BAVARIA FREEING HERSELF,
THE HAGUE. May 16,
The arrest of extremists in Bavaria is regarded as the final suppression of Bolshevism.
Serious riots occurred at Stettin. Prisoners released from barracks besieged. shops and looted some. Germans generally, however, seem to be responding to the new national fooling. The fact that the Red Army in Bavaria has already surrendered 169 field guns, 21,352 rifles, 7(10 machine guns, 300.000 grenades and 8,000,000
cartridges shows the magnitude of the peril that has been averted. ENTENTE’S RECOGNITION OP KOLCHAK. LONDON, May 27. It is believed the Entente’s recognition of Admiral Kolchak is, imminent.
