PEACE CELEBRATIONS.
The following- telegram has beeo received by the Town Clerk of the Taihape Borough Council:— With reference to my circular letter of loth March, regarding peace celebrations. Government has decided such celebrations will be held on the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday after the signing of the preliminary peace treaty As such treaty may be signed any date now this advice is sent in order that you may have all your preparations in hand.—G. W. Russell. Minister of Internal Affairs.
All those intending to contribute to the Peace Celebration Fund should send in their donation at tho earliest possible moment. The above telegram from the Minister for Internal Affairs makes it clear that peace may now be signed on any day, and that Peace Celebrations will be held on the first Sunday, Monday and Tuesday following such signature. The contributions up-to-date are not nearly sufficient to celebrate s uch an occasion as it should be, and if Taihape is not to be behind smaller centres of population it is essential that the money should be i" hand immediately. Tho.so who contemplate contributing are asked to be good enough to send along at once, so as to allow the committees some opportunity to lay it out to best advantage.
