THE MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
(To the Editor)
the electors are to have considerable choice on the 30th. but certain reflections occur to many of us. As to Mayor, we, of course, want the more capable of the two offering their services, and each must judge for himself of that .capability. But how does Mr Joblin propose to look after the Borough and his duties as la; member of Parliament (I understand he feels sure of being elected), besides the half a dozen other bodies which he wishes to represent? Or, if he is elected to Parliament, will he resign the Mayoralty and put us to the expense of another election? Answer, please, Mr Joblin. As to Councillors: What is required is men who will do their best for the Borough and every resident in it, and not for one section only of the community; therefore, all "tickets'," Labour or otherwise, are "no good to Gandy." By the way, surely Mr Joblin was mis-represented in your paper of 22nd inst, when he is alleged to have stated,' at one of his numerous Board meetings in Wanganui, that Taihape water is "rotten." If it is not rotten, Mr Joblin should have some regards for facts: if it is, then it is the act cf a fool io damage the credit of a town of which one is asking to be elected Chief Magistrate. These few reflections may cause abler pens than mine to write up the subject at the heading of this letter. Thanking you, Mr Editor. —I lam, etc., ELECTOR.
