COACH ACCIDENT.
MAIL CAE FALLS FIFTY FEET
HAMILTON, February 10 News was received this afternoon from Raglan that fhe motor coach had gone over the deviation-
There were seven passengers, including two Auckland ladies On board.
The car, which was driven by Mr E. N. Aitkvn, mail contractor, was coming from Baglan. When in the deviation it met another car at a bad corner, and in attempting to avoid a collision, Aitken's car overturned, going over a bank and falling 50 or 60 feet. The seven passengers had a miraculous escape, suffering only minor injuries. Aitken and Mrs. West (Onehunga), and Mrs Wayte (Eemuera), were brought in by Mr Monckton to the Waikato Hospital. Aiken is suffering from shock aad bruises, and a cut on th right arm. Mrs. West has a fractured collarbone and abrasions.
Mrs Wayte- sustained bruised ribs. Miss Peart, of Okete, who returned home, had "Tier back injured. Other passengers escaped with a shaking and minor bruises.

Acting on the decision reached on Sunday the Napier drivers did not commence work till 8 a.m. to-day, and will knock off at 5 p.m. Local employers held >a meeting yesterday, and offered to consider the men's demands but the latter replied that the matter was a Dominion one and refuse to treat. WELLINGTON, this day Thomas Abrecht, found guilty of the manslaughter of his mother, was sentenced to-day to one year's imprissonment with hard labour, to be followed by three years' reformative detention. The National Bank of New Zealand L.J. notes, B.L.L.L. stolen from the Ruahine, was in circulation in Auckland for a few hours during the latter end of the week. It was successfully passed into a fancy goods dealer, who included it in his lodgment with the Bank of Now Zealand, but on being presented along with other money, it was immediately discovered by the teller as one of the missing notes.
