A peculiar accident happened to a boy in South Taranaki last week. He was cycling along ia road when, losing control of his machine, he was thrown violently against a barbed wire fence, with the result that [his m|eek was severely pierced by some of the barbs, and he bled profusely. He was taken to a hospital, where several stitches were put in. and the dactor discovered that the jugular vein had hiad a narrow escape of being severed, in which case the boy, who was only twelve, would in ali probability have lost his life. The Marton District A. and P. Association wil hold their annual show on the Marton Eacecourse on Wednesday, March sth, when over £6OO in prize money and many valuable cups and trophies will hi offered.
