MOTHERED BY SAILORS
0 GALWAY CASTLE SURVIVORS A woman survivor from the torpedoed steamer Galway Castle pays a fine tribute to the rescuers in a destroyer “I was hauled up with the greatest care and taken to a saloon. There were women and children everywhere —on seats, sofas, benches, table, and floor ,and sailors in and out looking to us as if they were the mothers of so many children. “I shall never forget what these men did. Everything was at our disposal. Every bottle of everything ■was opened—every tin of milk and cocoa. All their clothing was turned out. They stripped off singlets and socks and left themselves half-naked to provide us with clothing. "The men in the destroyers arc men to bo proud of, iand I thank God that the Old Country can produce such true gentlemen.’ ’ Other survivors spoke in the same terms of the men.
