AFFAIRS IN GERMANY.
i DISQUIET,INGj POSSIBILITIES. ■■ ! LONDON, November 29. j The Daily News Munich correspond- ! ent states that though outwardly calm ' the situation in Germany presents clis- | quieting possibilities. The Central ; Government in Berlin is controlled by i men whose political careers do not in- | spire confidence. The Soldiers and i Workers’ Councils are ruling the Fcd- ! crated Republics. The upper middle 1 classes accept the dictatorship with | forced cheerfulness, looking forward ! to the National Assembly, but the diffiI culty of compiling voting lists stands |in the way, so Germany must drift I for two mouths. The fear of Bolshcv- ! ism is resulting in the hoarding of j money. ' POSSIBLE COUP D’ETAT FOR KAISER’S RETURN THE HAGUE, November 29. | Latest arrivals from Germany speaks 1 of tire growing revulsion of feeling for j the Kaiser, and the possibility of an I attempted coup d ’etat. The- movement | is based on the surprising loyalty of | a large proportion of the returning army. It is estimated that 50 per cent is true to the Kaiser, led by generals devoted to the Kaiser, fomented by a large and powerful militaristic clique thirsting for revenge. Projects arc openly discussed in the cafes, beer gardens and public places, strangers being asked, “Arc you Kaiser true or for the revolutionaries?” Mr. Chas Tower says that the Dutch Government regards the Crown Prince as a dangerous intriguer, but thinks the Kaiser’s day is over, and therefore the latter is allowed free communication with Germany, of which the fullest advantage is taken. Daily he is receiving vast and growing correspondence, which he answers personally.
