The naval authorities destroyed the mine which was washed up on the beach near the wreck of the Hydrabad, on Wednesday afternoon. A distressing drowning accident occurred at Taruru, Thames, on Friday last. A boy eight years of age, named Wilfred Chas. Collins, and other children got into a dinghy and drifted from the shore. Collins, becoming frightened, left the boat when four chains away, intending to swim for assistance.
