SETTLING AN ARGUMENT.
At the Supreme Court of Fii, sitting in Suva, Mabob, an Indian, was sentenced to 12 months' hard labour on a charge of manslaughter. The original charge was one of murder. According to the evidence of the Crown, accused and Baram, another Indian were arguing as to who should cook the food. Mabob took a shotgun which belonged to the sirdar and, putting a cartridge in, shot the deceased full in the face at point blank range. 'There was no clear evidence on the point as to whether the two men were quarrelling or sky-larking.
