KING'S THEATRE. Douglas Fairbanks as a penniless artist driven to desperate straits is the star of "Flirting With Fate," the brilliant Triangle drama. Jewel Carmen is the charming leading lady, and she is wonderful. Doug. finding everything that makes;life worth.living slipping away from him,. hires a professional assassin to "cash him in." Then, going home, he finds that he has been, left, a, million-.dollars and also a letter from his lady-love-forgiv-ing him. He is of course anxious to find the assassin to call ,the bargain off, but one of the items of the contract was that Doug, was not to know when Oie execution was to take place, or how it was to be done. The adventures he has, in trying to dodge the doom that awaits him, and locates the assassin are many and exciting. Some of the athletic stunts the virile star performs in this play are almost miraculous. One jump to the roof of a timber shed, from 4 plank which is tipped by the constable chasing him, must be seen to be thought even impossible. The settings arc the height of luxury. Supporting the above are a two-part Keystone comedy, Paper Making Educational, 13th episode of "Secret Kingdom." <-
EVERYBODY'S. ..•..••■"* Tb-NIGHT. ; During recent years' there have been many classics''of English literature adapted for screen 'exhibition, but never has there been one with such power and force as the picturisation of Hall Caine's "The Eternal City." in which the Famous Players have achieved the greatest triumph in the blending of the spectacular with the dramatic that has never been known in the history of the modern picture. The value of the picture is greatly enhanced by the presence of Pauline Frederick, who, with her great wistful eyes and outstanding dramatic talent has won a place foremost in the constellation of dramatic stars "of to-day. In "The Eternal City" she takes the part of Donna Roma, and makes the character live and breathe in a manner that called forth the warmest praise from the author himself. The principal male parts are taken by Thomas Holding, Fuller Mollish, Frank Lossee. and George Majeroni.
"Are Waitresses Safe?" is tlie unusual title of the Mack Sennett comedy that has been aptly described
a whirlwind of funny slapstick situations. Anyone taking seriously the title of this comic would be forced to say that waitresses are not as safe in Mack Sennett comedies as they might be elsewhere. Louise Fazenda, who play the waitress concerned in this number, has weathered many difficult predicaments of the knockabout type, but here experiences "in this two reel offering are about as complicated and funny as could be devised. The subject is laughable from start to finish, and an excellent example of this sort of comedy at its best. ■■''"■ ' '''""
