A SHOCKING ACCIDENT.
MR ERNEST MANSON KILLED A shocking accident occurred at Messrs Mansion and Clark’s sawmill, at Oio, near Raurimu on Monday, which resulted in Mr Ernest Manson, a member of the firm, losing his life. He was adjusting a belt on a pulley driving an emery wheel when he became entangled in the belting. His right arm was torn off as well as almost every stitch of clothing, and he was thrown with terrible force about twelve feet away. When the unfortunate man was picked up it was found that his right leg had been broken in two places and injuries to his head sustained. It was seen that his condition was very serious, and he was at once taken to the Taumaruni hospital, where it was found necessary to amputate one leg. Mr Manson was in a low state, and never really recovered from the shock, dying an hour or two later.
