FEMALE IMMIGRATION. AVOIDING TRAM RUSH. THE GERMAN ESCAPEES. ‘ WELLINGTON, this day. In consequence of the. ,s’vta.tem‘ent that young women were being allowed to leace ‘Australia for England, the Hon. G. W. Russell -said present instructions from the Imperial Government were that no women were to be allowed to leave New Zealand except ‘in cases of extreme necessity. A 00m~ munication has been sent to Australia asking for information, and if it is found the regulations have been relaxed for that country, the Imperial Government will be requested to grant ‘the same to New Zealand. -In order to ease the tram tratfic at ‘rush hours the Government has agreed that the Public Serv-ice"employees shall .begin at 8.80 and close at 4.30, enabling them to getaway before the five o'clock rush; There is no trace of the German escapees yet, though the ‘lsland has ‘been thoroughly searched. one theory is that they tried to swim, but were drowned, as the night was stormy and the sea rough.
