KING’S THEATRE. A genuine surprise story is told in “A Sister of Six,” showing at the King’s to-night. It features B'essie Love and six of the clever Triangle kiddies, byt its plot is of a totally unexpected kind. It commences wdth scenes in which the pathos of a family of seven orphans left suddenly to the tender mercies of a harsh old uncle, and swiftly turns to a stirring melodrama of the Californian border. A rich Spanish rancher has his eye on the Winthrop’s property which he has discovered to contain a gold-bear-ing reef. Hi.s method, of getting it is his own, . and .is. quite ; regardless of law. He collects a gang of reckless desperados and makes open war. There are some unique scenes when the children all realise , that something serious is afoot. They rush for hiding places. The final scene is intensely dramatic. The above is supported by a roaring four-part Chaplin comedy, another in-, stalmcnt of, “The Secret, Kingdom,’’, Gazette, etc. ~ ~ EVERYBODY’S. A double star programme will be screened at the’ Town Hall, to-night. The ipicture “Environment” is a typical Minter production—sweet and wholesome filled with smiles and tears. It is laid in a quaint, old fashioned, New r England village. Miss Minter is cast as the daughter of the village" loafer and ne’er-do-well. On graduation day she meets for the first time the ncw r minister, who promptly proceeds to fall in love with her, though her clothes are hot so fine as those of her girl friends, and her home is anything but inviting. Through a strange combination of circumstances the heroine ,is placed in a decidedly bad light before the minister. For a time he thinks her anything but a “good” girl. But the old saying that “The darkest cloud has a silver lining,” is aptly illustrated in this picture, for just when all seems hopeless to the little heroine, everything is explained satisfactorily to the pastor and the daughter of the village loafer becomes the bride of the minister.
The second star is a Paramount production "The Girl at Home” with Vivian Martin and Jack Pickford in the leading roles. A comedy and a gazette complete the programme.
