AIR RAID ON TONDERN. FIGHT OYER DANISH BORDER, * LONDON, July 21. Reuter’s correspondent at Copenhagen states that three British aeroplanes, while returning from the raid on Tondern, were fired on by German warships and chased by German aeroplanes The fight ended at the Danish border, and the three 'British airmen landed at various points in Denmark, where they were interned. They said' that the bombs which they dropped exploded a great ammunition dump near Tondern. I Both English and German warships were seen all day off the west coast of Jutland. The British warships fired on German aeroplanes, one of which fell info the sea. ~ A SUPER-AIRMAN. SEVENTY-TWO ENEMY MACHINES DESTROYED. Received 10.10 a.m. LONDON, August 4. A feature of the Gazette containing awards to British and Dominions’ airmen, is the Distinguished Flying Cross to the Canadian, Captain Bishop, who had already received the Victoria' Cross and several other awards for destroying twenty-five enemy machines in twelve days, and five in one day, making a total destroyed by him of seventy-two. . BRITISH ACE MISSING. Received 10.10 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 4 Major Mannocks, who is* credited with downing 50 enemy airplanes, is missing AIR RAIDS ON DTJRAZSO. Received 10.10 a.m. . LONDON, August 4. , An Italian Naval communique slates that aviators on three successive days seriously damaged wharves and shipping at Durazzo, also several . seaplanes. BANK MANAGER’S DEATH. STRATFORD, this day. Frederick George Hartley, manager of the National here, died yesterday, from a sudden heart seizure. Deceased was well known throughout the Dominion aged fifty-four.
