RUSSIA.
INTERVENTION IN SIBERIA. LONDON, July 18. The Daily Chronicle says that a diplomatic correspondent foreshadows immediate Allied intervention in Siberia. Following the Czecho-Slovaks' arrival in Vladivostock, President Wilson has modified his earlier views, and no longer waits for ia formal invitation from the Soviet before considering Allied action in Russia is justified There: is every reason to believe that an active agreement between Tokyo and Washington is approaching. Japan, however, is not so enthusiastic for intervention ias before. The Government is' still favourable,, but there is opposition in commercial circles. HORVAT DENOUNCED. HARBIN, July 18. The Czecho-Slovaks have denounced Horvat as a traitor and a reactionary. CZECHO-SLOVAKS' SUCCESS. PEKING, July IS.
The Czecho-Slovaks are in full possession of Irkutsk. They are advancing on the railway south of Baikal. The Bolsheviks are concentrated east of Baikal
JAPAN CONSIDERING AMERICA'S PROPOSAL.
TOKIO, July 18.
Confidential conferences of the Elder Statesmen, military leaders, and the Premier, are considering Washington's proposals for joint AmericanJapanese intervention in Siberia. TOKIO, July IS.
The Council of Elder Statesmen considered the Government reports concerning the despatch of troops, and agreed to support unlimited assistance to the Czecho-Slovaks.
THE RUSSIAN TRAGEDY.
LONDON, July 18
A wireless Russian. official states that Germany requested Russia's consent to the despatch, of ; a German battalion to guard the'Embassy at Moscow and disclaimed intention to occupy Moscow. The Government replied that it was prepared to furnish a trustworthy sufficient Russian guard, but could in no case permit the presence of a foreign military detachment in Moscow. It hoped Germany would not insist.
