Telegraphing from Jericho on Monday, Mr Massey reports that there are ( rumours of friction between the Ger- | man and Turkish troops, and if true . the results of the action on the Jor- * dan yesterday are sure to widen the breach. Three German battalions attacked with the object of seizing our ( water supply. After getting round a 3 portion of our defences they were ( held up and forced to surrender. The ,
Germans expected two Turkish divisions to assist, but they made no at- j tempt to do so. and the Germans suffered an overwhelming defeat. The ■ Turks are completely disillusioned. > Their casualties were very heavy, and j over 500 hundred prisoners were cap- < tured.
