I SLOVAKS IN RUSSIA. MASTERS OF LOWER VOLGA. AMSTERDAM, July 15. The Tageblatt. announces that the Czecho Slovaks, despite very heavy re- \ sistance by the Red Guards, captured i Kazan, on the Volga, 100 miles southeast of Nijni Novgorod. It adds that by the occupation of thi,s. important railway and' waterway junction the Czccho-Slovaks are utilising Trotsky's" mobilisation 5,n jKhe on the Volga and in West Siberia for their, onw purposes, forming from the recruits the so-called "Black" Guards which are co-operating with the Czecho Slovaks and other counter revolutionary forces. A CHINESE DENIAL. PEKING, July 15. The Inspector-General of Customs denies the recently cabled report that China is sending large quantities of goods to Eiussia which . are likely to reach Germany. ASIATIC CHOLERA. RUSSIA IN ITS GRIP. STOCKHOLM. July 15. A steamer from Petrograd has arrived with five cases of Asiatic cholera aboard. One <3fed # The authorities in Petrograd are making an effort to prevent the spread of the disease. Several hundred deaths are occurring daily. The greater part of Russia is in the grip of the disease.
