ALBANIAN VICTORY. PROGRESS OF 24 MILES. ROME, July 12. The Austrians’ defeat in Albania was serious. The Italians advanced in three days from 18 to 24 miles. The whole southern bank of the Semeni has been occupied, and Berat enveloped. After a three days’ battle the Italians captured Fieri. They found an aerodrome with several aeroplanes intact. Later an enemy aeroplane, unware of what had happened, landed at the drome. The aeroplane contained an Austrian aviator and four ladies. CAPTURE OF BERAT. LONDON, July 12 It is confirmed that the Italians have captured Berat, to the south of Semeni River, in Albania. THE CAPTURE OF BERAT.

Official advices confirm the Italian capture of Berat. Franco-Italian troops in Albania are seriously menacing the Bulgarian right wing near Monastir, The Allied offensive ’ is developing .favourably, and forcing the Austrians to retreat, which in forcing places approaches a font. Various engagements along a 125-kilometre front between Lake Ochrida and the sea resulted in the Allies capturing large quantities of war materials. The French continue to advance at Osum and west of Koritz, while the Italians operating from Valona seized Demalacastra and reached, the lower course of the Semeni. Austrian reports acknowledge that Berat was surrounded before the Austrians retired. American military officials Expect momentarily an Allied drive from Salonika. latest Prom Albania. ENEMY LOSE HEAVILY IN RETREAT. Received 10.5 a.m, LONDON, July 13. An Orient communique states the enemy lost heavily in the retreat in
Albania. We are now holding a line at the junction of Temorica and Devolia.
