HOOKEY SOCIAL AND DANCE.
In spite of the very inclement weather last night there was a splendid attendance at the Old Girls’ Hockey Club’s social. Though the weather did not keep away the dancers, it prevented the large number of spectators who would undoubtedly have been present from putting in aif appearance. However, all the dancers enjoyed themselves, as the floor was in capital order, the music good, and the supper all that could be desired. Messrs. M, McLaughlan and Dunbar had charge of the dances, and were assiduous in their endeavours to see that everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. That those who were prcsenF had a very pleasurable time was disclosed at a glance from the gallery on the happy faces below. All arrangements were perfect, thanks to the members of the Club,, who had spared no pains to that end. During .’the Mr ftV. J. Munro, on behalf of hockey enthusiasts, presented the 'Challenge .Cup,, generously presented by Mrs F. J._ Hintz, to the Huia team, who had. that day registered the first win. Inthe Cup to Miss Donovan, captain - 6f the winning team, MrMunro said he had much pleasure in •doing so, incidentally stating that the Cup. was open to challengers from •Feiljling to Ohakune, and that a challenge- had already been received from the Taihape District High School, the match to be played on Thursday next. A waltzing companion was put on during the evening, being won by Miss C Donovan and Mr H.
