The Old ; Girls Avon the toss and elected to play , Avith the wind and rain in their favour. _ From the onset the spectators witnessed a good game. The O.G,’s played the first spell AA’ith one short. The play was very even in the first half, the O.G. ha\dng slightly the best of ‘the game and kept the Huias busily * defending- After sonic up and doAvn ‘play the O.G.’s scored from' a corner - ' hit. Miss D. Leahy being responsible. O.G.’s I, Huias 0, The Huias tried hard to get-through the O.G.’s defence which was too good. On changing ends at half' time Avith the wind and rain at their backs the Huias did not leave it very long in doubt that their efforts were going to be redoubled and they were out to win if possible, and Miss' A. iThe following comments are by *‘Onlooker”: —Both teams are to commended. for tlie sportsmanlike manner in which they played the game. Numerous were the apologies heard on both sides when an opponent was inadvertently obstructed. The going was heavy, and this was the cause of the Old Girls’ downfall, as lack of condition was evident in the second spell. Miss D. Leahy was prominent for her good play, absy supported by Miss M. Leahy. Miss Richards played well on the wing, but had too much pace for her supporters, and was not sufficiently . backed up The Old Girls’ have Wo- 7 brilliant backs in Misses McAuliff© and Brooky, and Miss Swenson was. noticeable for some good work. The remainder of the team were wanting in condition to see a strenuous game out. The Huias showed great combination,, and played good hockey. They deserve their win. The most prominent players in their ranks were Miss C. Donovan, who was always on the ball; the wing forwards, Miss Laurensen and M. Campbell, played well ,but would do well to watch Tor offside play. Miss D. Bray played a sterling game, and proved a tower of strength to her side very seldom letting the ball pass her. Miss I. Treadwell showed fine defensive' play as goal-keeper and saved her side on several occasions. On* the conclusion of the game the District High School team challenged the winners, the match to be played next Thursday.
