ITALIANS CONTINUE TO GAIN GROUND. LONDON, July 8. Italian official.—By small actions we gained ground northward of Monte Grappa, and extended our advanced occupation in the region of Colcapprile. V "'V The Italo-French forces 'between the coast and Tomoric Valley, in Albania, began an operation on the 6th, which is developing satisfactorily. Our prisoners already exceed 1000. THE AUSTRIAN DEFEAT. ROME, July 8. Bitter recriminations are going on between General Conrad, Von Hoetzendorff, and General Bowevitch. The latter accused Conrad of making a fatal mistake in concentrating troops in valleys dominated by Italian artillery. Conrad declares that Bowevitch committed a fatal blunder in not suspending the offensive when the Plave was flooded, knowing that he had not sufficient material to force a passage. Bulgarian newspapers declare that the Austrian gross and humiliating failure has compromised the fate or the whole war. The time has come whn Bulgaria must think seriously of her own interests. ITALIAN WAR PRISONERS ESCAPE. WASHINGTON, July 8. The Italian Embassy's official -advices say that on the Piave front, seven hundred Italians, who were captured by the Austrians, escaped. The Italians say the Austrians are forcing prisoners to work 'behind the Jiqes under fire.
