RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL

The County Council met on Satnxday. The following correspondence was read: — Ngawaka Sawmilling Co., re the Council's demand for security against damage the roads by their mill traffig£>

Manager of Mangaohane Station. — Ee his account for work on the Moawhango Erewhon Road and which the Council declined to recognise. Received. From Dalegety and Co., asking that a supply of poisoned grain be sent to Taihape. Poison unprocurable; unable to forward grain. ENGINEER'S REPORT I Te Kapua Riding The bad weather has made the roads sloppy; and slips have blocked several The .most serious is on the new. ro&d in Otaihape Valley, where the hillside came away and broke off the piles of the new 20 foot ' bridge recently completed over Otaihape stream. Temporary timbers have been placed in position to prevent the bridge collapsing, and permanent repairs will be made later, when the ground becomes set.

Awarua Riding The Toe Toe bridge over the Rangitikei river>j3 now completed. Fair progress has been made with the contract for Toe Toe raod extension. Many slips have occurred, and available labour is busy clearing them. Erewhon Riding Owing to the weather little progress has been made with gravel repairs on Waiuni-Moa-whango road. A fresh start will be> made as soon as the road dries.
