GERMAN ARMY RATIONS REDUCED. Received 8,55 a.m. LONOND, June 30. , A headquarters’ correspondent states that the German army rations will bo reduced from Monday. The new is entirely xatless despite the cold nights. KILLING OFF DOMESTIC ANIMALS OWING TO FOOD SCARCITY. Received 10.15 a.m. AMSTERDAM, June 30. The Nieue Rotterdam,sche Courant states that a large portion of Germany’s cats and dogs have been killed owing to the food scarcity, and the majority of poultry slaughtered. Cows are insufficiently fed, but if they do not yield the prescribed quantity or milk are slaughtered. The worst fate has befallen the horses, and great numbers are starving. Pig breeding is threatened with utter ruin. Only sheep-farming is in a more favourable condition. AUSTRIAN AFFILi.ES. ALLIED STANDPOINT. AUSTRIA WANT TO KNOW IT. LONDON, June 28. It is learned from a good source that ustria-Hungary, through an unofficial representative in Switzerland attempted to discover the Allied standpoint on important questions. The effort proved fruitless. The “Frankfurter Zeitung’s” Vienna correspondent admits that the Piave retreat made a deplorable impression there.
