ENEMY MINEPIED. OFF NORTH CAPE, o WELLINGTON, Tuesday The naval adviser, Captain P BL Hall Thompson, .announces that New Zealand mine-sweeping trawlers have located an enemy minefield north of New Zealand between Cape Maria van. Diemen and North Cape, about 10 miles from shore. Two mines have been recovered and destroyed. The 'operations of the mine-sweepers are Continuing. ■ ' The public are again warned that the mines are liable to break away and be washed on shore. Should any person find a mine he should report the fact »nce to the nearest naval, military, police or Customs authority, and is advised not to tamper with it in any way beyond endeavouring to make sure that it does not again float to sea. The mines just located are somewhat oval in shape, with five horns, two lifting bolts at the top end. and mooring arrangements at the base, with a height of about 4ft Gin. and a diameter of about 3ft. SETTLER'S DEATH. HASTINGS, this day. The body of Guy Shaw, aged 44, a well-known settler of inland Patea. was found in a creek a mile from the homestead. His throat was cut from ear to ear. He has been missing since Monday, and leaves a wife and two children. Indications point to suicide.
