ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
FIGHT AT HOSPITAL , MADMAN ATTACKS DOCTOR. HAMILTON, June 7. In the waiting room of Frankton station last night, just before the arrival of the express from Auckland, Thomas Arthur Lasham attempted to stab himself several times in the region of the heart and neck with a ipocket knife. Ooiisrtable Warneford secured Lasham just as a bystander knocked a knife from his hand. Dr. Garland rendered first aid, after which the constable took the injured man to the hospital. He was quiet on the journey, and the constable left him with Dr. Joseph and his assistant. About midnight, when the doctor had finished attending to him, (his injuries not being serious) and the 'assistant was in .the. "room, Lasham suddenly atacked the, latter. Dr. Joseph, returning, found them struggling on the floor. Lasham then turned his attention to ; Dr. Joseph, and a further struggle ensued. Police assistance was called, and Lasham was secured and put into a straight jacket, and placed in a padded cell. He was medically examined this morning, and committed., to .the Avondale Mental HospitaL... ~ .
