THE EDITORIAL COMMISSION.
DETAILS OF THE INVITATION. WELLINGTON, May 24. The Acting-Prime Minister has received the following from the High Commissioner: "The Ministry of Information invites a mission of five editors or owners of the Press of New Zealand to visit Great Britain and the Western front as guests of the Ministry. They state that the selection is left entirely in my (our) hands, by which I take it they mean the New Zealand Government. They particularly desire that the mission be composed of men belonging to the high- : est standing in the New Zealand newspaper profession, and, df pracV ticable, that all sections should be represented. The trip in Great Britain and France will occupy a period of four weeks. It is suggested that they leave at once. The Ministry will pay all expenses. Please inform me as soon as possible what arrangement is mar?e, and the names of those comprising the mission." Sir James Allen communicated with Mr. Selig, President of the Newspaper Proprietors' Association, who suggested that the matter be put before the Executive of the Association, to which course the Minister agreed. A meeting of the Executive is to be summoned on Tuesday next .
