WOMEN'S WORKING CLUB.

SCHOOL CHILDREN'S DAY. On Saturday next the staff and children of the Taihape School will have charge of the Shop ■of the Women's* Working Club and they are out to beat all previous records. For some time past the children have been busily engaged preparing for this "day," and their efforts, judging by collection of goods they willjfzave for disposal have been crowned with com. plete success. The commodities for sale comprise mutton, poultry, rabbits, brawn, bread, scones, pies, cakes fruit jam, sauces, vegetables butter hones milk cream eggs marbles, etc. Practically all the pastry and baked goods have been made by the scholars and their parents, and they make a very goodly show. It has been well said that no giving is creditable that does not entail some self-denial on the donors. The school children hav& given all the money that has been obtained by the sale of bottles, and even the boys have given up their marbles for sale. If this does not entail selk denial, boyish nature must have altered considerably since our time. Thfestaff and scholars have spared no efforts to make school children's day a huge success, ,and it only remains for their elders to supplement their efforts to establish a record for the provision of comforts for our soldiers on active service.
