SOUTH AFRICA.

BOTHA’S STERLING PATRIOTISM. CAPETOWN, May 16. General Botha, in a speech before the South African Congress, again warmly condemned the Nationalists’ republican propaganda as nothing but an attempt to gain votes. . Hertzog and his friends had been palying with fire, but Hertzog had now called a halt. General Botha emphasised that after the Boer War' they nearly despaired in their deep sorrow and mourning, but, in - everything they could see God’s hand. A great and contented South Africa haci been establishe~ It was nonsense to talk of an oppressed nation. There must be an end to all talk of commandoes. They could not allow that kind of thing to go on.
