The Daily Telegraph's Hague correspondent commenting on the Foreign Minister's announcement of developments, .in which he said the gravel question had not taken an unfavourable turn, but that the situation is serious, .said this is interpreted that the Government is agreeing to the German demand, but fears complications with the Entente. The public is alarmed by German newspapers' sudden wave of threats and advocacy of military ruthlessness. HOLLAND IN SORE STRAITS. HALF A MILLION MEN READY. Received 9.50 a.m. PARIS, April 28. A prominent Dutchman, interviewed by "Le Journal," says the Dutch army is half a million, who are in readiness to defend their rights against aggression. There is no reason tto believe negotiations will verge on a rupture. It is expected a compromise will be reached upon Germany's demands regarding Rhine shipping and'exchange of food. Holland, with Germany menacing her on one side and the Entente adopting a firm attitude on the other, is in sore straits.
