EUCHRE PARTY.
The euchre party got up by the ladies guild (St. Margaret's) on Friday, was a great success, about 100 people being present. The Vicar was unavoidably absent. The prizes were evenly contested. Both the ladies and gentlemen's tied. After supper the two ladies, Miss Gilbert and Miss O'Brien, played off, the winner proving to be Miss O'Brien, who gained the silver trinket box given by Mrs. Loughnan. Mr. Little and and Mr. Hamilton also played, the % prize (pair of hair brushes) going to Mr. Hamilton. These were given by Mr. Little. Great interest was taken in guessing the name of a camisole given by Mrs. Carpenter. When the envelope was opened ''Sylvia" was the name disclosed.' " 'As .on .one had thought of •this name the camisole was put up [for auction pj Sergi-Major .Forrest, ; the final bidder' being' Mr. Bond, £2. With "God Save the King" a very •pleasant, evening added. , Sergt-Major Forrest and Mr,. Mercer took charge of the tables. A trophy is to be presented to the lady.,and gentleman winner of the highest aggregate number of games. Thanks to the excellent arrangements made by the sub-com-mittee, of Mesdames, (Dr.) Boyd. Carpenter and, James):! everyone went away voicing their pleasure and determination to i come; again.
