EVERYBODY’S. A real thriller, with an action that sots like a strong current of emotion through scenes of wild and compelling grandeur, That describes “The Little Soldier Girl.” the Paramount photostudy which will be shown at Everybody’s to-night Saturday}. The plot? is laid in, ..the rugged Rio Grande country. There is a man named Miguel Alvarez, and he has a son whom he calls Luiz. His life is such that ho has only one wish unfulfilled. That is the marriage of his son, of whom he is inordinately proud, with Justina, his little niece. But the pretty Justina, who,; by the way, finds an entirely fitting impersonator in Miss Ann Pennington, has other ideas. She ! despises Luiz, but the marriage has been arranged. At the eleventh hour , she makes her escape, followed by her S angry uncle and her proposed groom. But she escapes all right, and once across the border, is free to pursue her own wishes, for the law differs in many American States, Needless to say, her own wishes involve a speedy marriage, and one that shows every sign of being a very happy one. Another big item on the programme is “The Flower of Doom” a five-reel Red Feather production picturing Tong War and Chinatown scenes in graphic fashion. "The Little Soldier Girl” will be shown at the Matinee. KING’S THEATRE. For sheer power and grip nothing has ever been produced by Triangle to equal “The Dark Road.” Some of the situations are terrific in their intensity, and their emotional effect will be felt by the most hardened pic-ture-goer. Dorothy Dalton is the star, and in the role of the strange seductive siren whose desires alone are her laws, she does superb work. She is particularly impressive in the last scene when, in the midst of the gorgeous- barabric settings wdth which she has surrounded her goddess Cleopatra, she is relentlessly hunted by her half-crazed, husband- The retribption for herj.wanton conduct is terrible and .complete, , .The photography is a masterpiece.... The interiors of the great English, hopies,, the delightful old-fashioned . gardens, and the strange and weird luxury of the apartment of the siren.: ar 5 all marvels of studio craft.. • .The story contains flashes of the Great War, but they are part of and necessary to the story, and not obvious interpolations. There is also a big supporting list as follows:—Graphic, Vita Comedy, Pathe Scenic, and a laughable Keystone Comedy* hb.;
THREE, STARS. No more, exciting mystery drama •has ever been screened than “The Maelstrom,” the Greater Vitagraph play showing at the Three Stars tonight. Jimmie Halkett, millionaire clubman, is lighting a cigarette, when from the fog, a woman darts to him, thrusts a package into his hand and says, “Take it and run.” Jimmie’s enquiring mind sends him to the address written on the package, and, felled by a blow in the darkened room, he wakes to find himself alone with the body of a murdered man. . This all occurs, as it were, in a few minutes, and the rapid action of the play keeps the interest at terrific tension. Earle Willians is the hero, and delectable Dorothy Kelly the heroine.
