A SUBMARINE EPISODE.

Received 9.40 a.m. LONDON. April 14. A German submarine appeared on the Liberian coast (a small republic on the west coast of Africa) on the 9th April_ She seized a small armed vessel which she torpedoed after prisonering the crew. The commapder threatened to bombard Monrovia , unless they dismantled the wireless, and closed the French cables. This was done, but later the commander insisted on the destruction of the wireless and cable. The Government refused, and the commander thereupon bombarded Monrovia for one hour, and destroyed the cable and wireless station causing casualties. A passing steamer interrupted the submarine, and a fight bctweccn the two vessels followed, -he result was not stated.
