THE MAN-POWER BILL.

Received 9.40 a.m. LONDON, April 14. The House of Commons adopted clause 3 in the Man-Power Bill enabling a fortnight’s notice to cancel exemptions on personal not occupational grounds. The Government agreed not to apply the clause to conscientious objectors or to men exempted on medical grounds. Sir Auckland Geddes, in grave tones warned the country if something very bad happened in the next few days f we might be obliged to reconstruct large parts of the army. Any one possessed of youth and fitness should have his own personal position in civil life considered. About two hundred thousand men belonging to higher grades would be affected. Grade three men were not yet wanted. Reports from Ireland showed there is much activity in the Recruiting Departments; many in Dublin joined up, including many Englishmen. Should all these evaders of military service join the army it would receive 30,000 recruits.
