OPoTIKI FLOODED. TOWNSHIP INUNDATED. , 'WELLINTON, April 10. Telegrams received by the post office from Whakatane stat'e that an extraordinarily heavy flood is being experienced at Opotiki. There are six feet of water in the highest -parts of the business area. • N.o loss of life is reported so far. The floods were caused by heavy rainfall and flooded rivers. All traffic is suspended. The water is over the counters in shops and has reached the 'ground floor of the post office. Roads are blocked, and traffic suspended. Telegraphic communication is interrupted, but. Whakatane can get Opotiki over a faulty telephone circuit.
