CATHOLIC BAZAAR.
The Catholic Bazaar concluded last night, when the Town Hall was more crowded, and business brisker than on any of the previous nights. The ladies and their assistants worked very hard, and their labours were rewarded by the gradual depletion of their stalls. During the evening various art unions were drawn and announced. Some very attractive dancing was contributed by Miss Blomfleld's pupils, and their work disclosed the painstaking care of their teacher. The tug-of-war challenge by the Taihape Maoris against all-comers was accepted by a team of whites. After a very exciting struggle the Maoris won by about six inches. Mr. B. McLaughlin auctioned off a considerable number of articles, but his piece-de-resistance was the sale of £ flag, which, after spirited competition, realised £B2, eventually falling to Teddy McLaughlan for £5. The full list of winners in the vr~--'pus competitions will be published • morrow.
