COMMERCIAL.
TAIHAPE SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Palmerston North, report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Taihape on Wednesday, the 27th instant,when a heavy yarding of sheep and a fair entry of cattle came forward. There was a good attendance of buyers, and we report a total clearance with the exception of two small pens. Good sound breeding ewes were in good demand, but all lines of indifferent sheep were dull of sale. We quote:—Mixed lambs 12/ to 13/, cull lambs 5/2, 5/8 to S/l. 2-tooth ewes small 20/3 to 22/6, 2-th., wethers 23/3 to 27/1, mixed aged ewes 12/6, 14/ to 15/7, good 4 and 5 year ewes 22/6 to 24/. Cattle —3 year to 3J year Polled Angus bullocks (good) £l6, fat bullocks to £l7 10, 3 year bullocks to £5 ss, 21 Polled Angus sheers to £l3, 18 months steers £5 2' to £6 15/, weaner steers £2 17/, fat heifers £ll, fat cows £ll to £l2, empty cows £6 13/ to £7 10s, cows with calf £8 13 to £lO.
A consignment of mixed sheep donated by the Pukeokahu settlers to the Red Cross Fund realised £3O 10/, 5 cords of firewood £7 10/.
