RANGIWAEA NOTES
FAREWELL TO MR AND MRS MONKLEY.
A very pleasing function took place
on Friday, the 22nd inst_, when the settlers of the district held a social evening in the Rangiwaea Hall to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs G. P. MonkIcy and family, who, owing to the illhealth Monklcy, are leaving for New Plymouth. During the evening Mrs Monkley was the recipient, not only of the good wishes of everyone, but also of a very pretty silver afternoon tea service, whilst Mr Monkley received a handsome travelling rug. The Misses Monkley were given a very neat silver trinket box each. In presenting the rug to Mr Monkley, Mr McCann .spoke of the very neighbourly relationship which had existed between Mr and Mrs Monklcy and himself for the past twelve years, during which time they had been in the district. In any cause appertaining to the welfare ,of the block they had always found them willing to assist. Mr McCann further stated that he regretted that hey had to sever their acquaintances through Mr Monklcys illhealth, but he hoped the change of climate would be beneficial. All were in accord in wishing them the best of luck in their new ' home.
Mrs Mon Id cy very suitably responded on behalf of her daughters.', and herself, and Mr -'Mon'kley also thanked the settlers for this and many other previous kindnesses/' ... An enjoyable dance followed, and the evening’ended with the diinging of “Auld Lang Syne.-”
