BOWLING NOTES.
The 3 rink and pairs competitions have now reached their concluding stages, and it is expected that the finals in both these events will be completed by Saturday next at inlatest. Those teams which have qualified for the finals are as follows :--- Rinks—Boyd (skip), Hesketh, Dunn, Mortland; Thurston (skip), Rev. Stent, Bason, Joblin.
For semi-final of pairs Evans and Cunninghame, Wham and Parker, Varnam and Daskwood, Wrigktson, and Rev. McDonald.
Interesting and close finishes should result in each case as it is conceded that the teams are evenly balanced and every man at the top of his form. Championship singles and handicap singles.—As the season is well advanced the match committee has adopted the suggestion to combine the above competitions in so far as the first round is concerned. That is to say, that the games played in the first round will count both in the championship and in the handicap singles, with this difference of course, that on his championship card each player starts from scratch, but on his handicap card he receives the allowance In points made by the handicapping committee. Each player may, but is not compelled to enter for both competitions, the entrance fee for each Is Is. Thus it is quite competent for a handicap competitor only to be drawn to play against an opponent who is entered for both events, and whose score would in consequence count for both.
