COMPULSOEY 'TECHNICAL ■ ;1/ ;,;}

j The ; compulsory 'technical -arid continuation classes were inaugurated last night, when Mr. Wilson/ Technical Director, (attended ;at the Technical School for the purpose of enrolling pupils. There was a very satisfactory muster, somewhat in excess of what was anticipated. The difficulty will be in providing the necessary apparatus for so many pupils in one or two of the classes. This is notably the .'ease in the typewriting class, for which no fewer than '3O have; enrolled. Thje matter is ito bo brought under the notice of the Education Board by Mr Joblin to-morrow. Mr. Wilson now •has the classes well organised, and before the end of the week all the initial difficulties will be overcome and the work of tuition will be carried on smoothly. Following are the number of pupils enrolled in the various classes to date:

Bookkeeping, (Instructor, Mr Daws) 20.

English, and Arithmetic (Mr Wilson) 12

Cooking (Miss Mikkelson) 16.

Dressmaking (Miss Mikkelson) 16. Shorthand and ' Typewriting (Miss Murogtie) 30. Woodwork (Mr. Bull) 9. It is anticipated there will be several additions frotho various classes during the next week or two
