The burgomaster of Vienna, addressing the municipality’s officials, said the word bankruptcy might bo written on the door of the Austrian food department. Vienna was again obliged to ask for Berlin’s assistance. The Government entirely failed to realise the desperate situation. Unless wheat from the Ukraine was soon obtained Austria would be incapable of holding out.
