ON THE SEA.
A GERMAN BATTLE CRUISED,
MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE
BRITISH SUBMARINE’S VISIT
LONDON,: •February 10
Mr. Gerald Fiennes, Vriting in the ‘ ‘Observer, ’ ’ recounts that a British submarine followed an armed German trawler, through the net of a defended port, and saw a new battle-cruiser at the quay. The submarine did not return but festivities had been arranged for the trials of the cruiser, which never returned. The “Observer” connects this story with the fact that the battle cruiser Graf voir Spec was launched some months ago, and nothing had been heard of her since, though rumours of her destruction, had spread from Germany to England.
THE SHAMEFUL FLAG.
LONDON, Feb 10
The officials of the Seamen’s Union state that the British Merchant Service, from officers to cabin boys, are pledged not to salute the German flag after the war.
