THE TRIAL OF BOLO.
AN EXTRAORDINAR INDIVIDUAL.
PARIS, February 6,
8010 maintained an attitude of Munchausen-like audacity. He declared that be associated with the ex-Khedive solely to induct him to abdicate. He added: The ex-Khedive placed his crown at my disposal. 8010, when cornered, declared that hostile witnesses were liars. He claimed that he still possessed a fortune of £560,000 and declared that it would be useless for the prosecutor to try to trace it. ■
The indictment against 8010 delineates him as a fascinating libertine, a cajoling feline a philanderer, a bigamist, a gambler, an extravagant liver, and an unscrupulous business adventurer. He conquered women with his silken moustaches and his fondling ewe and won itheir devotion despite his cruelty and infidelity. He imposed on business men by clever, cynical audacity and self-confidence. After bigamously marrying the rich widow of a Bordeaux wine merchant, he launched on a life of wild business speculation, and social pretensions. He promoted businesses in various parts of the world but all failed.
