BOWLING NOTES.
The Ohakuue Bowling Club has de cided to join the New Zealand Bowl ing Association.
The biggest bowling trophy on the Coast, the Dixon Cup, has been won by the Feilding Club. The latter club were the challengers, and followed their challenge to the Palmerston green, where they defeated the Fhimerston team after one of the keenest and most exciting games ever played on the green, by 18 to 17. The contest was fought out neck-and-neck, as the following scores will show: —8 all 9th head, 10 all on 12th head, 14 all on 17th head, 17 all on 20th hcad.Then came the tug-of-war for the win; when the skips went down on the 21st head, Palmerston was lying one, and after some beautiful bowling Feilding managed to win the head and the match. There are already some challenges in for the Cup, and the new holders will have to fight hard to retain it.
The annual Bowling Match for the Duthie Gup, between Wellington, Hutt and Wanganui Clubs, was played on the Hutt green on Wedesnday. In the morning Wanganui played Wellington, the latter winning. London’s rink tied with Erskine’s but Cohen went down by about 10 points to Sievewright. Then Wanganui played Hutt, London beating Hendry 3 up, and Cohen beat McCaskul 9 up. The concluding match Hutt v Wellington, was won by Wellington, Sievewright beating Hendry, and Erskinc beating McCaskill Wanganui thus parts with the shield, after having held it for -two years.
