AUSTRALIAN WHEAT YIELD
PURCHASED BY BRITAIN.

The British Wheat Commission has decided to take the 1916-17 wheat crop, representing three million tons. It is understood the Imperial authorities are providing ample shipping space to permit of its transportation by the end of the year. The Commission may also purchase the 191718 crop.
SYDNEY THREATENED.
SYDNEY, Feb 4
The tempest which wrecked Brighton is now developing on the south coast and is expected at Sydney tonight: Shipping report terrific weather. Fears are entertained for the fate of the steamer Marjorie, which, with a crew of fifteen, left Adelaide in company with the Glaucus on January 26th. The Glaucus arrived at Newcastle on Friday, but nothing has been heard of the Marjorie.
