MR. MASSEY AND SIR JOSEPH WARD TO GO.

WELLINGTON, Feb. 4

Mr. Massey announces that New Zealand will be represented at the meeting of the War Cabinet by Sir .Joseph Ward and himself, subject to Parliament's approval. A short session of Parliament, will be held prior to their departure, probably opening on April 9th, to make the necessary arrangements to enable the representatives to go to Britain. The Conference will be held in June, so the representatives should leave before the end of April.

SUPREME COURT

NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb 4

The Supreme Court openeC to-day,' before Mr. Justice Edwards. George Thomas Gifkins appeared for sentence on a charge of forgery .and uttering. He was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution. ■- - Ngatai Peririka was acquitted on two charges of cattle-stealing. Mark de Garna pleaded guilty to one charge, and was found guilty on another of committing an unnatural offence upon little boys at Hawera. He was sentenced to five years on each charge, the sentences being concurrent.
