THE HARDING SCANDAL.
To the Editor.
§i r ~You deserv^oSrpat’ /-puaige for taking up Charles case the way you hav e done. Harding: worked for me here for a long time prior to August 28th last year, and was alwa\ s willing to do his bit when his turn came. One could scarcel;^think of a harder case on any man than the above, hut I can tell you of one even worse. it is of a man named .Ross,, who has been away , at the front for 18 months, as the . secretary of the Patriotic Society will-tell youjiand* yet this man has been posted as la deserter,. for months. If - you inquire at> The police station, you will- find out. The police called me in to see if I knew anything of Ross, because he worked for me. What I have written about Ross is fresh, because the Patriotic people in Taihape told our clerk only this day. Here is another Defence scandal.—l am, etc., W. T. ASHTON
