GERMANY’S TROUBLES.
TROUBLE BETWEEN BAVARIANS
AND PRUSSIANS
AMSTERDAM, Jan 20.
The tension between the Bavarians and the Prussians has become strained. Hertling’s appointment was intended to quieten the Bavarians, but it did not succeed, and their demands are increasing. The Germans from Russia are being employed to the utmost in order to keep their minds off the Maximalist doctrines, the prevalence of which is causing anxiety to their commanders. One German division has been sent from Belgium to Russia.
GERMAN CABINET APPOINTMENT
MORAL VICTORY FOR THE PANGEEMANS
AMSTERDAM, Jan 21
The retirement of Herr von Valentini, chief of the Kaiser’s civil Cabinet, is regards as a victory for the pan-Germans. The “Taeglische Rundschau” declares that von Valentin! was an opponent of submarinings, and that he was the real author or the Kaiser’s Easter suffrage manifesto. With the appointment of VonValentini’s successor, a typical officer of the Prussian Guard, and a pronounced Pan-German, becomes the Kaiser’s closest personal adviser.
